A few weeks ago, we shared how CTB looks at the analysis from standardized testing as a valuable tool: Data informs instruction and instruction informs data. The result: Overall student achievement. The results and numbers aggregated from a standardized test do more than just proving a district or school is up to par with neighboring schools or even nationwide standards.
Frequently, districts and schools get bogged down with the results and numbers from these tests. What do they mean and where do they go from there? What’s important to remember is that with the appropriate use of test data, there is incredible value to the usage of achievement tests that accurately measure the things that a student knows and can do. Test results from a well-planned and comprehensive assessment program can not only provide a detailed evaluation of student progress, but it can support teaching and give administrators direction on how to use curriculum and improve their instructional plans. Teachers can use these evaluations to keep parents informed about their child’s progress and students aware of the areas they need to focus and improve upon.
